Our Christian Vision and Distinctive Character

At Bunny C of E Primary and Nursery School, we are a caring, inclusive and loving Christian community where every individual is valued as unique, precious and created by God. Our children, parents, staff, governors and church community all contribute to shaping our vision and the education we provide. Together, we strive to create a school where every child is encouraged to flourish, achieve their potential and develop a lifelong love of learning.

Our Christian vision, “Do everything in love” (1 Corinthians 16:14), is at the heart of everything we do. It guides our decisions, shapes our relationships and influences the way we care for and respect one another. Through our six school values, our Treasures of Love, Respect, Peace, Aspiration, Honesty and Courage, we encourage our children to live out our Christian vision in their everyday actions, treating others with kindness, compassion and understanding.

Our Christian distinctiveness is woven throughout school life, creating a welcoming community where everyone belongs, differences are celebrated and all are encouraged to flourish. We seek to nurture children’s spirituality, develop their understanding of faith and help them discover their own sense of purpose, hope and belonging.

To nurture spirituality and enable every child to flourish, we are committed to:

- Living out our Christian vision: Ensuring that “Do everything in love” underpins our leadership, relationships, teaching and daily life, with our Headteacher, staff and governors working alongside our church community to sustain and develop the Christian character of our school.

- Providing meaningful opportunities for worship: Enabling children to experience and participate in daily collective worship, including opportunities to lead, reflect, pray and explore Christian teachings, both in school and through our close links with Bunny St Mary's Church.

- Living our school values: Embedding our six Treasures throughout the curriculum and wider school life, helping children to develop spiritually, morally, socially and culturally, and to understand how their actions can make a positive difference to others.

- Celebrating faith and spirituality: Exploring the teachings of Jesus and the Christian faith, marking significant Christian festivals and providing opportunities for children to reflect on life's big questions, develop a sense of awe and wonder, and deepen their understanding of themselves and the world around them.

- Valuing diversity and inclusion: Welcoming children and families of all faiths and none, respecting different beliefs and backgrounds, and providing opportunities for children to learn about and celebrate other faiths and their important festivals with understanding and respect.

- Promoting wellbeing and flourishing: Nurturing the mental health, personal development and spiritual wellbeing of every child, helping them to develop resilience, confidence, compassion and a strong sense of belonging within our school community.

- Strengthening our church and community partnerships: Maintaining and developing our close relationship with Bunny St Mary's Church and the wider community, working together to provide opportunities for service, reflection, celebration and the flourishing of all.
