Welcome to Chestnut Class.
Children in Chestnut Class are in Year 1 and Year 2.
The class teacher is Mrs Bee. Mrs Middleton and Mrs Fox are the teaching assistants.

Our Discover enquiry question for Autumn 2026 is
"How have people from the past made things better for us now?
In Autumn Term 1, we will be learning local history, beginning where we are and discovering the amazing story of our own school beginning in 1700. We will be learning through artefacts, buildings and interviewing former pupils. Our big question for debate is: Does going to school help children to learn and grow? We also have a whole school local history day to enjoy on September 28th when children can come dressed up as a person from history.
In Autumn Term 2, we will be finding out why we commemorate Remembrance Day. We will be learning about the famous nurses Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole. We have a history workshop day on November 3rd. Our big question for debate is: Did Florence Nightingale improve hospitals for everyone?
The school treasures we are focusing on are love and aspiration.
Our English texts are Beegu, Something Fishy (film), Where The Poppies Grow and When The Crayons Quit.
Our Maths units are place value, addition & subtraction and shape.
P.E. is on a Wednesday and Friday this term.
